1.  New Chapters: We are happy to be working with leaders in Wilmington, NC, Tacoma, WA and Albany, NY in the formation of new Black chambers of commerce.  We are taking excellent care to ensure that they get off to a proper start and living up to their mission statements.  Congratulations!

2.  “Cooked Disparity Studies”? Beware of a sophisticated firm known as BBC out of Denver, CO.  It is developing a reputation of doing expensive Disparity Studies for municipalities and concluding, regardless of data, that little or no disparity exists.  Our chapters in Minneapolis, MN and Portland, OR are fuming about their questionable studies.  If they are attempting to do a Disparity Study in your city, we say CAVEAT EMPTOR.

3.  Last Call for Kenya: We will be in Kenya evaluating business opportunities during June 12 – 17, 2011.  If your company wants to participate in this Trade Mission or if you want to be represented by the National Office please contact Charles DeBow at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. 4.  Congratulations to Winners of the Business Case Competition: We give our highest praise to the three finalists of the 2011 Executive Leadership Council Business Case Competition sponsored by Exxon Mobil Corporation.  The subject matter was Seizing New Energy Opportunities While Reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions.  All three presentations were just fabulous.  Winning First Place was Carnegie Mellon-Tepper School of Business.  Second place went to University of Southern California- Marshall School of Business and third place went to University of Michigan- Ross School of Business.  Kay and I were just thrilled to see these gifted Black and Hispanic students excel in their work and delivery.
