Bethel's Place Black Chamber of Commerce (BPBCC) – We are officially open for business and have hit the ground running as the National Black Chamber of Commerce’s first of many Black Church Chamber of Commerce. BPBCC is primarily formed out of The Church at Bethel’s Family business owners and members. 2. Inaugural BPBCC Business Dinner – Following a very enlightening and highly productive visit by Harry Alford, Jr., National Black Chamber of Commerce President / CEO and other NBCC officials last week, BPBCC hosted its inaugural Chamber Business Dinner. As a newly formed Black Church Chamber of Commerce, BPBCC already has just over 200 businesses that have joined as “Charter” members or signed on as “Charter” member candidates. 3. Attendance at NBCC Fall Summit – Pastor August (Senior Pastor of The Church at Bethel’s Family) and Leon Jenkins (BPBCC President/CEO, and Chair of the NBCC Black Church Chamber of Commerce Program) are traveling to Los Angeles, CA for the NBCC Fall Summit, November 11 – 13, to present the Black Church Chamber of Commerce business model. The NBCC already has plans underway to replicate the model at qualifying churches throughout the nation. 4. From Vision to Reality – It's official. The closing documents were officially signed on Wednesday, November 3, giving the go ahead for construction of the $7.2 million dollar “Bethel’s Place” Community Development and Empowerment Center; a 56,000 sq. ft. 2-story building complex. The Center will consist of a double gymnasium multi-purpose “state-of-the-art” Conference / Banquet / Theater Hall; full-service commercial kitchen; Food Pantry and Clothing Bank; Coffee Shop; Bookstore; Pharmacy; Health Services Facility; Dental Facility; Business Suites; Community Services / Programming Agency; Office Suites; A/V equipped Conference rooms; Computer Training Facility; Library; Vocational / Technical Training School; and, Police work-station. 5. Green Business/Green Jobs Seminar – The Church at Bethel’s Family and BPBCC are hosting a "Creating a Sustainable Business" Seminar presentation by Carletta Waddler, CEO of Sustainable Training Services, LLC. out of Virginia Beach, VA. The seminar is being held, November 18, from 4-8 p.m. on The Church at Bethel’s Family Campus. There will also be a presentation by Randall Gilliland, principal of Sustainable Training Services, LLC on "Next Steps Green Collar Career Path." Our target audience is small business contractors, minority contractors, people interested in starting businesses, retrofitters and weatherization specialists.
