1. Dems Attack NBCC Too: It is all over the news that the Democratic Party is taking its blues out on the US Chamber of Commerce. It appears that a small task force has even been assigned to the NBCC. The National Office has had to send to the Chair of the Senate Small Business Committee about being shut out of recent meetings. It appears that the Majority Chief of Staff of the Senate Small Business Committee (inconsequential transient position) Don Cravins has made disparaging remarks about the NBCC, which has 7 chapters in his home state. Don Cravins is not a friend of ours. 2. John Harmon Recruits His Congressman: Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Milwaukee) has entered HR 5010 which would provide the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program for the new High Speed Rail System, $50 billion. Not one congressional member has stepped forward to co-sponsor this bill until now. NBCC Board Member and New Jersey African American Chamber of Commerce President John Harmon simply called his congressman, Russ Holt (D- Trenton), and asked him to co-sponsor the bill. Ten minutes later he called back and said he would and he did. It is important that you all emulate John’s action and get your congressperson on board. We can’t believe not one other member of the Congressional Black Caucus has stepped forward yet. Let’s get busy! 3.
