Work Description

The scope of this project consists of renovating the Vision Theater and completing the Manchester Jr. Arts Center on the second floor including addition of new restrooms; constructing public restrooms on the first floor; upgrading the theatre’s audience chamber’s mechanical and electrical systems; restoring the historical lobby, entrance vestibule, and audience chamber’s historical ceiling; installing an elevator and stairs; and renovating the public restrooms on the first floor as well as historical restoration of Vision Theater’s marquee and sign tower.

Design and Funding

The plans and specifications were prepared by FSY Architects.  The funding for this project is from Proposition K, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG,) Capital Improvement Expenditure Program (CIEP) and California Cultural Historical Endowment (CCHE) funds.

Board Adoption Date:            August 11, 2010

Pre-Bid Meeting Date:            August 19, 2010 @ 10:00 a.m. at Vision Theatre;

MANDATORY JOB WALK DATE:    August 19, 2010 after the pre-bid meeting.

Environmental Compliance

Award of this project will not occur until after the City has complied with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (Public Resource Code, Sec. 21000 et. sec.) for the project.

Contract Bonds

A “Bid Bond” is required. The successful bidder shall provide two good and sufficient surety bonds. The “Payment Bond” and “Performance Bond” shall each be for not less than 100 percent of the contract Price.

Contractor’s License Classification

At the time of bid, the contractor must possess a valid State of California Contractor's License Classification of "B".
