PROJECT DESCRIPTION:   

The work includes construction of a single story Vocational Education Building with exterior masonry wall and concrete slab on grade.  The building will be attached to the existing Support Services Building.  This building shall achieve Silver LEED Certification.  There are six major workshop areas-  Printing Graphic Shop, Facilities Maintenance, Welding Technology, Cabinet Mill Workshop, Culinary Arts and Desktop Publishing.  The overall gross area is approximately 26,014 sf.  The existing on-site plumbing and electrical services are located just outside the mechanical room(as shown on the civil and electrical site plans).  The entire building is protected with an automatic sprinkler system.  The security system, electrical and mechanical works are indicated in the contract documents.  The project includes related site, utility, fencing and security work.  The scope includes furnishing and installing electrical and security conduits/cables within the existing support services building (above suspended ceiling system).  The existing walls and floors shall be core drilled without creating any vibration and noise while working in this area.  Removal of existing tile, adjustment of grids, etc. are part of the Contractor’s responsibility.  The project scope also includes two alternates (see section 01230).
