Broadwater Water Reclamation Facility Enhanced Nutrient Removal Upgrade Construction Phase Services Anne Arundel County, Maryland
GHD, an environmental engineering consulting firm located in Bowie, Maryland, is seeking qualified Minority and Women's Business Enterprises capable of survey services, concrete testing services, and/or soils and compaction testing services for the Broadwater Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) Enhanced Nutrient Removal Upgrade Construction Project. The Broadwater WRF is located at 1161 Deep Cove Road, Churchton, Maryland 20733. Major construction activities include:
1. Construction of a new filter influent pump station, 2. Construction of new denitrification filters, and 3. Construction of a new supplemental carbon storage and feed system.
Surveying Provide a cost proposal to establish survey control points that the Contractor can use to accurately establish location and elevation of construction facilities, and to field verifying installed facilities to assess the quality of the Contractor's work and coordinating field data with the Consultant for incorporation into As-built Drawings. Include your firm's qualifications with the proposal.
Concrete Testing
Provide a unit cost proposal to provide the following services:
1. Field testing of fresh concrete used for the project including temperature, slump, air content, unit weight, water/cement ratio based on recordation tickets provided by the concrete supplier and molding of compressive strength cylinders. 2. Transportation, laboratory curing and compression testing of concrete cylinders. 3. Faxed or email copy of hand written field reports, and laboratory and compressive strength test results as they become available.
Testing shall be conducted at the frequency listed below:
Slump – 1 per 50 cu. yds or fraction thereof, min 2 per day Air content – 1 per 50 cu. yds or fraction thereof, min 2 per day Unit weight – 1 per 50 cu. yds or fraction thereof, min 2 per day Water/Cement Ratio – Calculated for each truckload Compressive strength – 1 per 100 cu. yds or fraction thereof, min 2 tests per day
The amount of concrete on this project is estimated at approximately 1,250 cubic yards. Include your firm's qualifications with the proposal.
Soils and Compaction Testing Provide a unit cost proposal for the following scope of services. Compaction testing would be required as follows:
1. At two (2) locations under each structure less than 500 sf, three (3) locations under each structure between 500 and 2,000 sf, and at five (5) locations for each structure more than 2,000 sf in area. 2. At one (1) location for every 75 linear feet of trench backfill placed. 3. At one (1) location for every 1000 sf of pavement placed. 4. At one (1) location for every 250 sf of walkway. 5. At one (1) location for every 200 cubic yards of fill or backfill.
Nuclear moisture density testing by probe methods will be acceptable for compacted areas not exceeding 8 inches in thickness.
